Julie and Julia

JULIE AND JULIA

Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, and Stanley Tucci star in this funny and charming adaptation of two best selling memoirs: Julia Child’s My Life in France and Julie Powell’s Julie & Julia. The film intertwines the lives of the two women: Julie, who, verging on thirty and trapped in a temp secretarial job, resolves to reclaim her life by cooking, in a single year, all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking and Julia’s Child’s story, decades earlier, of mastering her own culinary destiny. Julie chronicles her trials and tribulations in a blog that catches on with foodies. Both women, while separated by time and space, discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.

Rated PG-13; 123 minutes; 2009

Christmas in Yellowstone

7pm CHRISTMAS IN YELLOWSTONE

This film is not about Christmas! It is a breathtaking look at wintertime deep within America’s first national park during December: Yellowstone’s stunning vistas, geological wonders, and animal residents. In addition to mesmerizing footage of landscapes and wildlife, the film follows the wintry trek of author and photographer Tom Murphy, who has been coming to Yellowstone for the past 26 winters, camping and photographing amid the silence and solitude of the park and filmmaker Shane Moore on journey reminiscent of legendary John Colter’s first foray into the park nearly two hundred years ago.

Not Rated; 52 minutes; 2006
